It is a privilege and an honor to be this year’s Hermana Mayor of the Assumption of Our Lady. The role of Hermana Mayor is a significant one, symbolizing a deep commitment to the community and a dedication to serving the church. When my name was submitted and approved by the Cofradia, I felt a profound sense of joy and responsibility. This town is my home; though I may not visit often, the memories here are precious, and it is a privilege to share the blessings I received throughout my life with the community.

The Assumption of Our Lady’s humility is a guiding light in my faith journey, reminding me to always keep my feet on the ground, to maintain my faith in God, and to trust that everything happens for a reason. This humility, exemplified Our Lady’s acceptance of God’s will, has strengthened me and given me a reason to live the life that I have now. It’s not perfect but I have a loving and supportive family.

The theme “United in Mission as a Synodal Church” is a call to action for all of us. It reminds us that we are all God’s children, and our differences should not divide us but unite us. By embracing our unique qualities and showing kindness and respect to one another, we can truly celebrate the Assumption of our Lady. Our collaboration through our vocations and talents is a testament to our Lady’s humility and a proclamation of God’s word.  Together, we can inspire the younger generation and benefit all.

As we strive to reach various generations and today’s culture, we recognize the importance of the online space. It is a platform where people seek meaning & connection, and we are committed to sharing God’s love here. Rest assure that the space is safe and informative. However, we must exercise caution to protect our well-being, just as we would in any other aspect of our lives.

I pray for a meaningful celebration, one that transcends physical boundaries and brings us all together in spirit. Sharing God’s words doesn’t always require an open wallet but an open mind and heart. I hope that this celebration will open hearts and minds to accept God’s love for all humanity and His creation, and that it will inspire us to continue our journey of faith and service to the community.

Happy Fiesta and may God bless us all!

Hermana Mayor 2024

Message from the Archbishop of Palo

GREETINGS!

My warmest greetings and felicitations to the People of God particularly to the parishioners of Assumption of Our Lady Parish, Tanauan, Leyte with the Hermana Mayor 2024 – Mrs. Jennifer Estrada Igmen-Hurtado. It is with great joy that we are able again to have our Fiesta celebration according to our tradition. Thus, we are very thankful to God for this wonderful grace.

This year, we are blessed to have the theme “United in Mission as a Synodal Church” as the guiding principle for our festivities. Synodality calls us to embrace a spirit of inclusivity, openness, and collaboration within our faith community. It invites us to widen our perspectives, to listen attentively to one another, and to engage in meaningful dialogue that fosters unity and growth.

In the spirit of Synodality, let us actively seek to build bridges of understanding and dialogue. Let us listen attentively to the concerns, hopes, and dreams of our fellow community members. By uniting our mission as a Synodal Church, we can foster a sense of belonging and unity that strengthens the fabric of our community. May we continuously be changed and renewed in our faith through prayer, thought, and participation in the sacraments. Let us ask the Holy Spirit for help as we manage the obstacles and opportunities that are in front of us.

May this fiesta celebration serve as a springboard for ongoing conversations, collaborations, and initiatives that address the needs and aspirations of your parish. By faithfully bearing witness to the Gospel and the Commandments of God, may you continue to remain loyal to this sacred vocation as you are continually being guided by the Spirit.

Happy Fiesta to one and all!

Message from the Parish Priest of Tanauan

Assumption of Our Lady

The Catholic Church to its theme “United in Mission, as a Synodal Church”, giving the importance of the entire people of God to be on a journey together, with each member playing his or her crucial role, united with each other. A Synodal Church walks forward in communion to pursue a common mission
through the participation of each and every one of her members.

A way of “Journeying together” of living out our faith – that calls for speaking and listening to one another and the holy spirit in order to find a path forward in addressing the issues facing the Church in our day as we work to carry out our mission of making known the Good News of Salvation in Jesus.

To our beloved Tanauananon and parishioners of Assumption of Our Lady Parish, my warm welcome and felicitations on this occasion in honor to our most beloved Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ and our Mother too. Likewise
my sincere greetings to our beloved hermana mayor – Mrs.
Jennifer Igmen-Hurtado and family.

Let us journey together, fully armed with deep and profound prayer to work hand in hand for the benefits of
everyone.

Our beloved “patrona” intercede on us.

God bless everyone and Happy fiesta to one and all.
